Even though the incumbent matched our premium, they couldn’t match our commitment.
We had identified this risk early in the course of a monthly strategy meeting held with a supporting broker. Neither the broker nor the customer were initially looking to move this risk, as it had been held by the incumbent for several years. But we pursued the opportunity to quote, confident that we could beat the premium.
We were able to improve on the incumbent’s premium as well as offer enhanced covers and a risk management fund, which captured the customer’s interest. We maintained regular contact with the broker to ensure our programme remained the most competitive.
Even though the incumbent matched our premium, they couldn’t match our commitment – we won the account due to our persistence and desire to work with the customer.
